I've read a lot of Lyndon Perry's work, and I must say that "Last Gasps" is particularly good. This e-book contains four "cozy thrillers." A cozy thriller downplays violence and puts its plot and characters into a smaller, more intimate setting. This is achieved to great effect in these three stories. Perry is very good at making an impression in a minimal number of words/pages, and this skill is on display here.Product details

Last Gasp Four Cozy Thrillers FourPack Fiction Book 1 eBook Lyndon Perry Reviews
I didn't realize how much fun reading short stories - in this case, cozy thrillers - could be. But Perry's "Last Gasp" is a real treat. Know how some desserts are just overly sweet or too filling or just pain over the top? Well, these cozy thrillers aren't anything like that. They're just the right blend of indulgence with a good dose of entertainment thrown in.
Light-hearted, twisty reads that are perfect for an afternoon where you're looking to forget about stuff for a while.
This collection of short stories is perfect for Halloween or any time of the year, as long as you read them at night. These tales feature vampires, ghosts, and zombies -- but all very tongue-in-cheek. Perry excels at writing dialogue, and his humor, while intentionally campy, brought more than a few smiles to this lopsided face. An enjoyable read overall, with my favorites being the first story (featuring a resourceful vampire) and the last (predictable, but a whole load of fun).
If you're looking for some short reads with a bit of humor to salt your horror, Last Gasp might be for you.
"Audition With The Vampire" is a flash piece that chronicles a director's encounter with an actor auditioning for the part of a vampire. Yes, you can guess what the actor really is but that's not the horror. In "Show, Don't Tell," another flash story, a writer argues with her muse. "Audition With The Vampire" is okay. I wanted more but you can't really criticize a flash story for being short. I didn't care for "Show, Don't Tell."
The best story here is "Captain Tyler's Ghost," a very effective flash story and a very effective ghost story. That's a hard combination to pull off but Perry succeeds. Told with a wry sense of humor that gradually gives way to creepiness, this is a story about telling a ghost story. In the end, the frame story and the ghost tale come together beautifully to deliver the narrative's creepy punch.
"Princess and the Zombie," the collection's longest tale, is a heartwarming story about a father and daughter bonding during a zombie hunt. Yes, zombie hunting is a sport, complete with leagues and tournaments. You'll never think about hunting in quite the same way.
I've read a lot of Lyndon Perry's work, and I must say that "Last Gasps" is particularly good. This e-book contains four "cozy thrillers."
